Isaiah 56:11, "Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter."

The Scribes and Pharisees Who Are They?

The opponents of the Sadducees on the council were the Pharisees (meaning 'separate ones'). The Pharisees were religious teachers who were very popular with the ORDINARY people.



Are you ordinary? Are you one of the brainwashed masses?



Jesus said, "The pharisees and the scribes have taken the keys of knowledge (gnosis) and hidden them. They themselves have not entered, nor have they allowed to enter those who wish to. You, however, be as wise as serpents and as innocent as doves."

As Gnostics, our moral thought and the actions that follow from it must be fundamentally rooted in the division between the physical and spiritual principles that we discern within the human person and indeed in the larger cosmos.


In short, the goal must be some way of, as Christ himself taught, being “in the world but not of the world,” of living and dwelling in the physical world but attuning our innermost being to the currents of the spiritual realm, and if possible even using the physical and the intellectual as great cosmic steppingstones toward the spirit.


Pharisees and these people were interpreters of the law and their tradition. They gave detailed regulations for just about everything.



The Pharisees were quite vocal in their opposition to the ministry of Jesus and his disciples. Their emphasis on the oral law, along with their self-righteousness, contributed to their attacks. The oral law explained as well as supplemented the law and was added with the intention of helping people keep God's commandments.


In other words, they were trying to help God by adding some rules and guidelines which they felt would be beneficial. They claimed that the oral law came from Moses, just as the written law.



who asked to be loved and obeyed from the heart and not simply to be recognized by outward and often empty ritual.



They were so intent on following the letter of the law that they neglected to see or understand the spirit behind it.



Jesus taught his disciples to beware of the teaching of the Pharisees. He had much to say against them. One may have expected Jesus to come and expose the false gods of that time.


On the contrary, he made a point of exposing the Pharisees and scribes. He gave sharp rebukes which cut to the heart, inciting them even more.


Why, he said the harlots would make it to heaven before them! What an insult this must have been to the Pharisees. So pious and religious; so concerned about God's law. They appeared to be a wonderful example of one who was living a pure and holy life before God.



They prayed on the street corners. They fasted twice a week for all to see. Their phylacteries were bigger and their fringes were more evident.



It was yet another example of ostentation, an attempt to project an image of holiness and goodness to the world. Jesus called such people 'whitewashed tombs', painted on the outside but inwardly rotten.



They should have known better; their own Scriptures reminded them that man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. Why did Jesus rebuke these people? Who would ever think that they were so far from God?






Pharisees exposed, for the frauds that they are.


When it came to the Pharisees, Jesus did not mince words. He was straightforward in his response to them and their doctrine. During Jesus' ministry he gave many names to the Pharisees.


He called them a brood of vipers (who would want to spend time with them?!), evil, hypocrites, blind fools and guides. He told them that they didn't know God, that they worshipped him in vain, and that the kingdom of God would be taken from them. Jesus exposed them for wanting to be seen and justified in the sight of men and that they caused people to be lost because of their teachings.


But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in. MEDITATION


Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.



Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves. Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor! Ye fools and blind:



whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold? And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever sweareth by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty. Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift?



Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon. And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein.


And he that shall swear by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.



Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.


Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead mens bones, and of all uncleanness.


Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous, And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.







Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets. Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers. Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?” Matthew 23:13-33 (KJV-See also Luke 11.)


Why was Jesus so upset with these people? What had they done that so angered him? To answer these questions, one must study the remarks made against them. All will not be covered, but let's touch on some.



In Matthew 5:20, Jesus makes a statement about the righteousness of the Pharisees:

"For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.” (KJV)


What was wrong with the righteousness of the Pharisees? The answer is that they stood in their own righteousness and not God's.


The Bible tells us that our righteousness is as filthy rags in the sight of God (Isaiah 64:6). Man cannot justify himself. No matter what good deeds he does, no matter how many rules he keeps, he cannot make himself righteous. Until he realizes the Divinity within himself.





Examine a few verses dealing with the subject of righteousness. Deuteronomy 6:25 says:


"And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the Lord our God, as he hath commanded us."
(KJV)


By obeying the law and keeping the commandments one would then be considered righteous. There was a problem here in that it wasn't necessarily an inward righteousness but rather one which was granted to them by obedience to the law. You could have been obedient in your outward actions, yet the condition of your heart could show differently.




IMPORTANT

This applies to some in today's churches who hold steadfast to doctrine which has been added to God's Word.


They refuse to break from the tradition of men. They bind heavy burdens on the people. They distort the beauty and truth of God's Word and make serving God a hardship with long lists of rules to keep.


Though they are shown that their rules and by-laws have no biblical foundation, they continue to embrace and teach them.



They despise those who do not walk as they do. They barely fellowship with those not in their particular group. They change the attitudes of their converts from one of love to that of pride and self-righteousness and even fear.



They shun or judge those who do not follow the letter of their law. They refuse to see the harm they have caused. Surely the fences they've erected for years must remain so we may better keep God's commandments.


There is a desire for sacrifice and not mercy. Thus the spirit of Phariseeism continues.


Christ himself taught, being “in the world but not of the world,” of living and dwelling in the physical world but attuning our innermost being to the currents of the spiritual realm, and if possible even using the physical and the intellectual as great cosmic stepping stones toward the spirit.



In short. these Pharisees are an enmity unto GOD, these gawd men with their fancy robes, funny fish head hats and smoking voodoo purses are a blight unto the earth and all free thinkers and people of wisdom and understanding.

In the Bible the scribes were the tax collectors, the pharisees were the High Priests, the religious righteous, the Church. Now the Bible was NOT written for the people who lived thousands of years ago, it was written for all eternity, for you now, today and tomorrow.

In the Bible Jesus rebukes the Pharisees and the Scribes, because they are godly on the OUTSIDE but not on the INSIDE, they are HYPOCRITES, doesn't this describe religion perfectly, with all their ceremonies, their fancy robes and garb, their trinkets and beads, their reading and teaching you the bible stories LITERALLY!


Today it's no different, "That which is yesterday, is today, and that which is today, will be tomorrow, there's nothing new under the sun" says the bible.



Today the High priests (the Pharisees) are religion, the religious cults on the earth, the Jerry Faldwell's, Pat Robertsons, The Jack van Impe's, Creflo Dollar, schuller, Swaggart, the Crouches, Bin Ladens, Ayatollah's, mullah's and this stuff and Etal.

Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat: "This means they pretend to Be of God, ordained by god, and try and fool you with their outward godliness."

The latest controversy to put the spotlight on Jimmy Swaggart happened just this past September (2004).


In a televised broadcast of a sermon from his church in Louisiana, Swaggart went on a rant against gay marriage. In the course of his sermon, his voice got serious and he said.


"And I'm gonna be blunt and plain; if one [a gay man] ever looks at me like that, I'm gonna kill him and tell God he died.











Reverend claimed that the more money you sent him, the more money god would give you. So you were making a divine investment by paying him. Popoff claimed that God would speak to him, and tell him specific ailments that people had.


Then during his sermon he would call out the names, ailments, and sometimes addresses of individuals who would stand up in the crowd and be healed.


In 1986, James Randi, a famous debunker, revealed that it was wife speaking to him through a ear phone, not God. Psychic skeptic, brought a radio scanner to a popoff sermon and intercepted what Popoff was claiming to be the voice of God.

You wouldn’t know it by hearing most preachers on T.V. today. But the truth is, God doesn’t need your money. Remember, God’s city is made out of pure gold, and owns all the cattle on a thousand hills. So what does man made money have to do with it? Especially since Jesus specifically said you can’t serve God and mammon at the same time.


How does this fit in with the Kingdom of God? As I’ve mentioned in a previous article “God doesn’t need your money", God cannot be bought with our man made financial system. A dollar bill is simply a little piece of paper, it has no value. Gold and silver is of no value to God because it’s all His anyway.


We buy things from God with our own time and energy. Time and energy that is already being used up and tied up in other things of the world. We simply have to transfer that time and energy and turn it towards the Kingdom of God. We’re already giving ourselves to things during a 24 hour time span, we just have to redirect it towards the Kingdom within.


"Look not lo here, nor lo there, for the kingdom of god is WITHIN you"


God doesn't need your money, he needs ten percent of your time, to seek within, in meditation.


The only ones that need your money are these sideshow clowns, acrobats and slithery serpents, so they can pay for their jet set life style, Christian style, and their fancy million dollar homes.


Jesus said to stay away from these vipers, and whitewashed tombs, will you do what Jesus said?

Notice his name is DOLLAR, Creflo Dollar that is, and he's got plenty of them too, from all the poor fools that send their hard earned DOLLARS to him.


He is a prosperity preacher, meaning that if you give him TEN percent of your money, you will be planting seeds, and God will reward you with more MONEY.


The Bible is a spiritual book, concerned with man's soul, it is not about his MONEY.


Of course they pullout the texts and read them LITERALLY and convince you that God is talking about MONEY. (Dollars), and he's got plenty of em!


It seems that there is not one program broadcast by T.B.N. (trust me, I have watched them all, and if anyone is curious, it is something akin to having every one of your fingernails pulled out with a pair of pliers) which does not, at some point in the broadcast, ask the viewer for money.


Whether in the form of paying for a prayer from the minister (who, by the way, may very well be MC Hammer), a prayer handkerchief (that's the best one) or simply a donation to guarantee you remain on the good side of the Lord, the entire network is based around bilking people out of their money.


Pat Robertson (most dangerous man in America) has gone on record, several times, accusing Islam (the entire religion) as being "wicked" and "heretical." ...Jimmy Swaggert has gone on record saying that it is funny to kill gays, and was caught with his hand in the proverbial cookie jar with a young woman who was most certainly not his wife.


They teach the unsuspecting poor fools, that if you send them money, you are planting money seeds, and that God will reward you and give you ten percent return on your seed, I can do better that that with the right investments. Money seeds, really now?


And Ol opossum head Robertson always pulls someone with a testimonial out of his ass. I wonder how much they have to pay for those phony testimonials?


You can believe it, if you want to, but it's an unadulterated, crock of sh..


They prey on the feeble minded, be string and RESIST these (sic) potato heads.

The Television Evangelists


The most visible effects of the evangelical revival are the religious radio and TV programs. Almost all these programs are of the fundamentalist persuasion. In the eighties it was the television programs that was capturing the imagination the Christian public.


These programs featured fundamentalist preachers such as Jimmy Swaggart, Jerry Falwell in his Old Time Gospel Hour, Pat Robertson and his 700 Club and Jim and Tammy Bakker in their PTL Club.


Their preaching is a mixture of quotations from the Bible, endless warnings against the evils of "secular humanism" and unceasing requests for financial contributions from the viewers.


With an estimated total viewership of ten million, the money these preachers raked in were, by any reckoning, immense. In his heyday Jimmy Swaggart was making close to US$140 million a year.


The Bakkers were close behind with an estimated yearly income of US$130 million.Jerry Falwell netted, by his own reckoning, about US$60 million a year.


The money, which was meant for their ministry, went to maintain their extravagant lifestyles. Swaggart bought himself a US$ 1.5 million mansion. In his show of fatherly affection, he bought another mansion, worth US$700,000 for his son, Donnie.


The Bakkers had bought mansions and luxury cars. As a measure of their decadent lifestyle, it should be mentioned that even the doghouse was air-conditioned. Pat Robertson owned a Georgian mansion and a country house.


Even the lesser lights of TV evangelism lived luxuriously. Peter Poppoff used to earn, in the years before the damning revelation by the arch-skeptic James Randi, at least US$15 million a year. He lived like a king.


He owned a US$800,000 mansion and many luxury cars. His monthly expenses included a US$5,000 to an interior decorator who was remodelling the Poppoff's residence at a cost of US$300,000. He was even reported to have regularly hired limousine to take him and his wife to dinner downtown: the cost was US$145 per trip for the car and US$200 for the dinner.


Who are the people who give so freely to support these extravagant lifestyles? Surveys show that they are mainly poor elderly women with ages ranging from 50 to 75, with 71 as the peak age of giving.


Many of these live on social welfare and some are even in nursing homes. The donations, mainly in cheques of five to ten dollars are mainly all, perhaps more than, these women can afford to give.



Apart from directly soliciting for donations in the TV shows, another favorite method of the TV evangelists is the use of computerized mail made to look and sound personal.


This method is dishonest, to say the least, as the letters always sounded as though the evangelists was personally responding to each and every donor. With tens of thousands of letters sent out each week, simple common sense will tell us that is an impossible thing to do.


The letters sometimes even come with a religious gimmick. One example is the "sacred handkerchief" imbued with the preacher's sweat. Alex Poppoff once bought 36,000 of these handkerchiefs (at US 25 cents a piece), had his people tore each into three and then sent each of these to the faithful.


The letter accompanying this piece of cloth claimed that Poppoff had actually mopped his brow with it. Based on the 108,000 pieces that was mailed out, he must have sweated a lot!


The letters and the ideas for soliciting funds are not even original to the preachers. They are prepared by professionals who know how to create crisis situations to enable the preacher to beg for more money.


The same professional that wrote the letters for Poppoff also composed letters for other evangelists such as Oral Roberts and Rex Humbard.


On the subject of soliciting money, the name Oral Roberts, one of the all-time greats in the field, should never be forgotten. Oral, born in 1918, is certainly one of the most longest lasting preachers in the fundamentalist circuit.


The Oral Roberts Evangelistic Association, based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, is a US$500 million conglomerate consisting of a university (modestly named the Oral Roberts University), a hospital and a medical research center.


All these were funded with money donated by his electronic flock. By the mid-eighties, however, due to intense competition from other evangelists, the donation coming in to Oral's ministry began to dry up and his empire began to crumble.


The desperate Oral came up with a method of soliciting funds that was probably copied by him from the hostage holding middle east terrorists. On January 4th 1987, he announced over his TV show that God had told him to raise US$8 million by the end of March.


Should he fail to raise that required amount, he said, God will "send him home." (i.e. to heaven) The response of reasonable people was one of outrage. The Tulsa Tribune called his threat an "emotional blackmail." But his followers were convinced believers, and the money started rolling in, at US$160,000 a day.


One can imagine the poor old women scraping whatever savings they may have and sending it to Reverend Roberts so that he can stay on earth for a few more years. To top it all up, the owner of a dog racing tack in Florida wrote Oral a cheque for US$1.3 million. Oral's life was saved! And so was his bank account.


With the exception of Pat Robertson, who was a Yale Law School graduate, none of the evangelists had had much education. Jerry Falwell was an engineering school dropout of Lynchburg College.


It should be mentioned that Dr. Jerry Falwell's PhD is an honorary one, for theology, from the Tennessee Temple Bible College in Nashville.Jim and Tammy Bakker were both dropouts from a Bible College in Minneapolis. Jimmy Swaggart never even finished high school!


With such a collection undistinguished academic under-achievements it is not surprising that these evangelists are anti all things rational and intellectual. Tammy Bakker once warned against too much education:


"You can educate yourself right out of a relationship with God." Jerry Falwell is on record with a warning to his followers not to read any other books other than the Bible.


Their general lack of education, together with their complete acceptance of the generally intolerant message of the Bible have made these men bigots. These evangelists, and many of their followers, are anti-secular humanists, anti-communists (in the days before the fall of the Berlin Wall), anti-homosexuals and anti-women's rights. An example of this attitude can be seen in the following excerpt from a sermon by Jimmy Swaggart:


I'm tired of liberal, communist fellow travellers tearing down our country. I'm tired of pot-smoking and alcoholic ne'er-do-wells living on welfare. I'm tired of God-reviling "secular humanists" telling us we can have prayers in our schools.


Another prominent evangelist within this mould is Jerry Falwell. He called for a return to the "McCarthy era where we register all communists and send them back to Russia."


Falwell also headed a political pressure group (now defunked) originally called the Moral Majority, which subsequently changed its name to the Liberty Federation. It boasted, in its heyday of some four million registered Christian voters. Due to its smooth organization, it exerted considerable political muscle.


Any politicians who supported "unChristian" bills in the Senate or Congress are warned by the group to step back in line or be prepared to lose their jobs. Examples of "unChristian" bills include allocation of funds for research in social science, allowing abortion and disallowing prayer in schools. At least four politicians were forced out by the Moral Majority: George McGovern, Frank Church, Birch Bayh and John Buchanan.


Falwell's reason for wanting to curb homosexual rights is definitely scriptural. He once thundered: "God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve!" His Moral Majority also succeeded in blocking the passage of the Equal Rights Amendments in fifteen states. [26] In this anti-equal rights for women crusade, Falwell has the staunch support of Pat Robertson.


Although Falwell's fortune has suffered of late (due to lack of support-his Moral Majority had to close down 1989), he still remains very much in the news. In 1999, his National Liberty Journal ran an article attacking the television series Teletubbies by claiming that one of its lead character "Tinky Winky" is gay.


The show is a show for preschoolers showing four characters (Laa Laa, Po, Dipsy and Tinky Winky) and were dressed in colourful costumes attractive to its audience.


Yet, Falwell's magazine article claim that Tinky Winky's purple costume and triangular shaped headgear are gay pride symbols! Thus the Teletubbies creator have a sinister aim of providing a positive gay role model for little kids!


Needless to say, this ludicrous "outing" of a children's show character made Falwell the butt of jokes in late night TV shows and newspapers columnists. It was this "outing" perhaps that led Robert Boston, the communications director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State to call Jerry Falwell a "has-been"


This then is a short introduction to the main figures at the forefront of the fundamentalist revival. Many critics of this modern day fundamentalism tend to assert that their teachings is a perverted form of Christianity.



But it is the contention of this author that these fundamentalists do not represent a new development in Christianity, but are in fact true to its spirit. We have seen from the previous chapters that Christianity had always been intolerant and anti-reason. The "natural" base of the religion is fundamentalism, as the political scientist Charles L. Liebman pointed out:


propensity to religious extremism does not require explanation since it is entirely consistent with the basic religious tenets and authentic orientations. It is religious moderation and religious liberalism, the willingness of religious adherents to accommodate themselves to their environment, to adapt their behavioral and belief patterns to prevailing cultural norms, to make peace with the world, that requires explanation.


Even the practice of soliciting money from poor elderly folks have its scriptural base:

One can just imagine the elderly followers of Falwell, Robertson, Swaggart, Roberts and Poppoff putting every dollar from their social security cheques and finding solace in the passage above.



Modern fundamentalist evangelicalism is no different from the Christianity of history; at least in the social harm in brings both to believers and non-believers.


Baker wasn't even close to Jimmy Swaggart, this guy had the ability to say 'Mesopotamia' and bring an audience to tears, he stole millions including an old lady dying of cancer in California who left all her will to him under a brainwash method, I think the lady's family contested the will, at the end this guy was caught while doing the easy women somewhere near Baton Rouge in Louisiana..☺

Israel is pulling out of a $50 million deal with US TV evangelist Pat Robertson after he said Ariel Sharon's stroke was divine retribution.


Tourism Ministry spokesman Ido Hartuv said Israel would not sign a contract with Mr Robertson to build a biblical theme park by the Sea of Galilee.


Mr Robertson suggested on his popular TV show the stroke was a punishment for Israel's withdrawal from Gaza.


His remarks were condemned by the US government and American Jewish groups.


Mr Robertson was leading a group of evangelical Christians hoping to build the Galilee World Heritage Park.

The centre was expected to cover nearly 35 acres (14 hectares) north-east of the Mount of Beatitudes, where Jesus is believed to have delivered the Sermon on the Mount.


It would have had a park, an auditorium, a Holy Land exhibition, outdoor amphitheatres, information centre and a media studio.


The Israeli government had tentatively agreed to provide land and infrastructure for the center in the hope of generating millions of dollars from tourism.


But relations soured when Mr Robertson said God wanted Israel to be whole and undivided and had therefore punished Mr Sharon for Israel's pull-out from the Gaza Strip last year.


"You read the Bible: This is my land, and for any prime minister of Israel who decides he's going to carve it up and give it away, God says no, this is mine," he said last week.


'Unacceptable'


Mr Hartuv said his government was furious with Mr Robertson's remarks.


"We were due to sign a contract in the near future with Mr Roberson for the construction of a new Christian heritage centre in the Galilee," he told the AFP news agency.



"We, as the State of Israel, cannot accept what he said and we will not do any business with him or with anyone else who agrees with his view."


But Mr Hartuv insisted Israel had not rejected outright the idea of building the center.


"The contract is still open just not with Mr Robertson."


"If there are other Christian leaders, they are most welcome to sign a contract to bring Christian tourists to the state of Israel."


Mr Robertson is no stranger to controversy.


He was forced to apologize last year for calling for the assassination of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

Lakewood recently purchased the colossal Compaq Center, formerly home of the NBA’s Houston Rockets. After a whopping $95 million in renovations, the Compaq Center now houses Osteen’s empire called Lakewood Church. Osteen continually sells out huge arenas (at $10 a ticket) across the country.

There is a tribe in the Philippines that torture pigs by sticking wooden spears into them. The more the pig squeals supposedly the more spirits enter the pig and bring good fortune on the village.


The longer the pig squeals before it dies, supposedly the more good fortune. Why on earth would spirits want to enter a suffering pig? What evidence is there that this sacrificial magic works?


What evidence is there than any sacrificial magic works? The only example I can think of is painlessly sacrificing the best seeds to the “gods“ to bring benefit. Sacrifice is usually an excuse for sadism.

In other words pastors are inside of you because their teachings, their thoughts, their beliefs, their traditions are inside of you. Those beliefs and teachings and traditions have separated you from God.

Hinn: God will be the final judge


Mass hypnotism, unproven healings, an extravagant lifestyle and lack of financial accountability are some of the allegations levelled against US televangelist Benny Hinn in the six hour, three DVD set The Many Faces of Benny Hinn.


The 53 year-old televangelist, whose real name is Toufik “Tutu” Benedictus Hinn, was born in Israel but moved to Canada with his parents. For 30 years he has held crusades all over the world from which he broadcasts highlights on his television show This is Your Day.


The investigative tapes were being offered by general secretary of the Sanatan Maha Sabha Sat Maharaj who waged a campaign to prevent Hinn from entering the country and holding his three-day crusade at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain, which ends this afternoon.


They were produced by the Trinity Foundation, a Dallas-based televangelist watchdog group led by president Ole Athony. The bulk of the tapes feature investigative pieces on Hinn from various television news shows including Dateline NBC and CNN News.


The news reports are mixed together with clips from Hinn’s television show which features him making statements such as not wanting to drive a Mercedes Benz if it would cause a brother to stumble-in a later report he is shown driving just that make of automobile-that only people who gave to God’s work would survive an impending disaster and admitting that he had said some “stupid things” in the past.


He is also shown predicting that TBN would become an extension of heaven on Earth and that people would be bringing their dead relatives up to the television to be resurrected.


Benny Hinn


Evangelist Benny Hinn is controversial for his frequently aberrant - and at times heretical theology, his unorthodox practices, and his false claims. Nevertheless, large numbers of people who identify themselves as Christians follow and, often, appear to worship this preacher.

The series also featured comedic pieces poking fun at Hinn on Comedy Central’s Daily Show and late night talk shows.


In the various interviews with Anthony, who appears in most of the reports, he describes Hinn as goofy, a liar, a mass hypnotist and a showman “marketing” miracles and damaging the faith of his followers.


In an HBO report neuroscientists also describe Hinn’s healing methods as mass hypnotism and his visions, which include angels and Jesus Christ, as a “God experience” that could be recreated with electrical stimulation of the temporal lobes.


They also compare his ministering style with those used by Adolf Hitler to marshal his Nazi troops.


Hinn said the HBO report made him “sick to his stomach” because it broadcast only five minutes of a two-hour interview.


In the different investigations the interviewers report on attempts to verify miracles at Hinn’s crusades, with some using a greater sample than others. The people who they had tracked down either were never healed, had their symptoms return or had died.


A Dateline NBC reporter noted that though Hinn claimed that the follow-up process to healings were exhaustive and well documented the investigators were refused any proof of the healings.


Hinn’s ministry said that it was impossible to investigate all the healings and the evangelist noted that it was possible to be healed and lose it.


He said that he recognised that it was not him but Jesus who was the answer to people’s problems and repeatedly noted that he does not heal anyone.


In the 60 Minutes report in 1998 the reporter opened by declaring that Benny Hinn is a “dangerous fake” and a shameless salesman selling false hope.


The report featured people who had been declared healed but still suffered with their illness, including one woman who had stopped taking her doctor’s medication.


Hinn said that neither he nor his staff would recommend that anyone throw away their medicine or stop going to their doctors.


He also advised that after someone got healed they should wait a year. He said, however, that even if 50 per cent of the people who said they were healed on the programme were actually healed it would still give someone hope.


One case of healing that Maharaj has been focusing on is the death of Marcano Siewkumar who went to Hinn’s crusade in Trinidad in 1999 and was told he was healed of heart disease, kidney failure and hypertension. Siewkumar, who had forsaken his Hindu background for Christianity, died soon after of his illness.


Rev Sandra Mansingh Vallie, who also attended the crusade, had a different experience. She told the Sunday Express before the first crusade she was a prostitute, drug user and Benny Hinn critic.


When a fractured hip she had suffered as a child started to affect her spine and lumba area and she lost her ability to walk. Vallie said she spent all the money she had on doctors and visited pundits, obeahmen and also took a “bush bath”.


“I try all the gods I knew excepting Jesus Christ,” she said.


She recalled laying on three chairs at the crusade and, after responding to Hinn’s call for people to lay hands on where they were ill, she touched her back and felt “electricity” on her body.


She slowly put her feet down and finally stood up, crying under the “anointing”. Vallie noted that after her healing she decided she wanted God and gave up her life of prostitution and drug use.


Besides criticism of healings the other major issue in the investigations was the finances of Benny Hinn Ministries. In the reports the ministry was described as a religious empire that brings in US $100 million, tax free because it is a church, annually in donations.


The evangelist is presented as having an opulent lifestyle that included a $3 million home with his wife and children, staying in five star hotels and a leased personal jet.


Hinn said the ministry paid nothing for his home or car and reported that his income is from his salary, which he noted is between US$500,000 and US$1 million annually, and from the sale of book royalties.


The ministry said his followers know Hinn’s schedule is relentless and his territory the whole world and the evangelist noted that he disagreed that preachers should live in “sackcloth”.


They also noted that the finances were needed for the expenses of the television show, crusades around the world, staff salaries and for churches and orphanages.


A report in 2005 makes mention of Hinn’s ministry and its assistance of the poor and needy around the world. On the television broadcast, his representatives reported that 20,000 children were fed and clothed around the world and US$20,000 a month was being donated to a hospital in Calcutta, India.


Anthony and other sources in the interviews, including people claiming to be Hinn insiders, also criticised Hinn for the lack of financial accountability of his ministry. They noted that unlike other headline preachers such as Pat Robertson or Oral Roberts, Hinn’s ministries had not made public their accounts or joined the Evangelical Council of Financial Accountability.


According to Hinn’s website bennyhinn.org in a 2004 financial accountability audit the money collected during offerings and crusades was divided as follows: four per cent for ministry development, 13 per cent for ministry administrative support, 38 per cent for the broadcast ministry and 45 per cent for international missions and crusades.


In a follow up report by Dateline NBC Hinn told the reporter that his financial board had been replaced because they had been keeping him out the loop regarding the financial workings of the ministry. He added, however, they had not been doing anything illegal.


He noted that if someone was not living right or honestly the anointing would be a curse and not a blessing.

If I appear to be a little harsher towards the Catholic church, it is for good reason, because it was around 1966, or it could have been 1967 in Houston Texas, I don't remember the exact date or year, maybe because I tried to shove that time out of my mind.


My mother used to drive us to Catechism in an old rambler station wagon, I remember one day after arriving at Catechism and being seated for awhile, a Priest stuck his head in the room and asked the NUN if he could borrow a boy to help him move a few pieces of furniture, I immediately raised my hand, because I so hated Catechism class, it was the most boring thing there was.


So this was a chance to escape the class, even if it was for only ten or fifteen minutes. We went down the hall and went into a room in the back, it was dimly lit, and I thought maybe a light bulb was burnt out, we moved a desk from one corner of the room to another, then all of the sudden this priest asked me if I wanted to go to heaven, and I said yes, then he said come and touch me here (his privates), he said if I did as he told, god would reward me a place in heaven, and that if I ever told anyone, that I would go to hell, and that it was not a good place to go.


I won't get into the details of what this sick bastard made me do, or what he did to me, all I know is that it screwed up my mind for many years, I never told anyone, not my parents, not even my closest friend Brad, because I was afraid of going to hell. Over the years as I thought about it, it did spill over in my life in some ways, so I would drink to get drunk, I cursed like a Sailor, even though I wasn't a sailor, at least not yet.


I hated going to church so much that one day I told my Dad that I would not go back, I didn't want to go anymore, and he let me stay home from then on. I developed a mean streak, I got mad easy at anyone, I didn't know why, I was so confused for so many years, although I hid it well.


Till this day I never told anyone, except right here on this blog page, I don't remember the priests name, nor do I want to. Damn the Catholic church, damn the Vatican, damn all priests.

I've just read the second article in two days about Mel Gibson's upcoming, self-financed film about the death of Jesus, "The Passion," and the controversy it's already causing before almost anyone has seen it. I just want to add in my two-cents' worth before I've seen it, either.



In point of fact, I don't give a good Goddamn about Gibson's movie or Mel Gibson, for that matter. I think he's a third-rate director and a second-rate actor who's never had the ability to master his American accent, and sounds like he comes from America's 51st state the state of anemia.


As these articles keep pointing out, Mel is part of a religious sect called "Catholic Traditionalists," who didn't even have a church in Los Angeles, so Mel went and built one.


These nuts only perform their services in Latin, and have broken from the Roman Catholic Church over the Vatican's 1965 accord wherein they finally exonerated the Jews for the death of Jesus.


But Mel's not willing to go there. He and the other Traditionalists obviously still harbor a grudge that the Jews were culpable for the death of Jesus.


Perhaps if the Jews actually ran Israel at the time of Jesus' death they would have been responsible, but of course they didn't. The Romans ran Israel and most of the world at that time and it was their rules everyone was following.


Which isn't to say that the Jews themselves might not have executed Jesus for being a rabble-rouser, but they certainly wouldn't have crucified him that's a Roman tradition, and the Romans were rather traditionalists in their own way.


Besides jesus is a greek name and means 888, which is the SUN in greek, so it's evident that Jesus never existed as a man anyway.

The fact that over a billion Christians get down on their knees and pray to a dead Jew has always amused and fascinated me from the time I was a little kid.


But I'm going to take this whole issue one big step farther. Religion, of any denomination, sect or ilk, is the basis of nearly all that's evil on our lovely planet. Religion is not here to make anything better, it's only purpose to divide and separate us.


We're the chosen people, you're not. Our God is the real God, yours is false and profane. Although we must show love and compassion for other members of our own religion, those of any other can be killed, tortured, and maimed because they're infidels.


Religion, at its very heart, means I'm right and you're wrong, or you're right and I'm wrong, but someones always got to be wrong.


I say that religion is the pretext for evil on our planet. Religion is the method whereby humans can rationalize their awful behavior to other humans and pawn it off as good deeds.


The basis of all Judeo-Christian religions, which includes Islam, is the old testament bible, which states very clearly "Thou Shalt Not Kill."


Although I didn't know it at the time, nor is it even my title, the name of my first film is really much more appropriate: "Thou Shalt Not Kill. Except."


As George Carlin so aptly put it, except "if you believe in another invisible man than I do." In which case the root and basis of all these religions, the ten commandments, can be happily and easily be tossed out.


Evil does not run around in a red devil suit with horns. Evil runs around as fundamentalists of every kind, Christian, Jew, Muslim or Hindu. I'll leave out the Buddhists and the Quakers because I don't think they have ever bothered anybody. But they certainly aren't joining in with the rest of us, either.


Religion is about separation, me and you, them and us, it has nothing to do with living with the rest of humanity in peace. Therefore, religion is the basis of evil.


Catholic priests have been seducing and raping young boys for over a hundred years, but are adamantly against homosexuality.


Muslims say they believe in the ten commandments and that Abraham, Isaac, and Moses were all holy men, but all Muslims believe in the jihad and that anyone who is not a Muslim ought to be, and eventually will be, killed.


Fundamentalist Christians, who also purport to believe in the ten commandments, really believe that when the apocalypse comes and Jesus returns, all the Jews will either have to convert to Christianity or will be killed, and that's perfectly okay.


Of course, Jesus will be in the nearest synagogue praying to Yaweh while this mass murder is going on. And the Jews and Hindus all believe that they are the real chosen people and everyone is just screwed anyway.


This is all moronic, simple-minded, idiotic, pre-civilized, childish thinking. Any name that we knuckleheaded humans can give to this incredible animating power that we call God, be it Jehovah, Jesus, Krishna, Allah, Buddha, or Zoroaster, are all ridiculous bullshit.


As Joseph Campbell, the great historian of mythology, so clearly pointed out, anyone that takes any of these old books of mythology literally has completely missed the point.


The bibles old and new, the Koran, the Bhagavad-Gita, the Book of Zoroaster, and all the rest of the "holy" books are merely collections of mythology.


They are metaphors and parables about how to live your life and how to face death. They are highly imperfect users manuals on how to get through this veil of tears we call life. If you actually believe that Jehovah is an old (white) man with a long beard who is watching each and every one of us over six billion humans and judging us, you're an imbecile.


If you literally believe that Jesus is Jehovah's son, you've decided to turn off a big portion of your brain and not deal with reality. If you literally believe that if you kill an infidel that Allah will bless you with seventy-two virgins in the land of milk and honey, you've definitely got a screw loose. These are all myths. Period.


Yes, there probably were guys named Jesus, Mohammed, and Buddha, but they were humans just like the rest of us. The fact that a lot of other desperate, unquestioning people gathered to them doesn't make them anything other than plain old humans.


Religion is all based on weakness and laziness. It's the throwing in of the towel on the mysteries of life. It's saying, I can't make head or tail out of any of this shit, so I'll just go with what everyone is doing.


If they're all getting down on their knees, eating a cookie and believing it's the body of Christ, then I will too. If they're all wrapping themselves in leather thongs, covering their heads with beanies, and rocking back and forth, that's what I'll do.


If everybody else is bowing to Mecca six times a day, I guess that's what I must do, too. This is the behavior of lemmings following other lemmings off the edge of the cliff.


There is absolutely no difference between praying to Jesus, praying to Jehovah, bowing to Mecca, or lighting incense to Krishna, than there is sieg heiling to Hitler, blindly following Pol Pot into the killing fields, or chopping up Tutsis with machetes. It's all called thoughtless behavior.


It's part of our job as humans to think about and consider our place here on the planet and our position amongst all these other people. The second you abnegate this responsibility, you've fallen into an evil trap.


As the writer Harlan Ellison has said, "We're all the same person under different skins," and that's truly a holy thought. All the religions on Earth want to point out is that we are all different, and we of our religion are better than those other unholy blasphemers.


That's evil. And that is what all religion at its core is all about. Us and them. We're holy, they're infidels.


A word religions seem to really like, particularly the Jews is "tradition," which is the handing down of beliefs or customs from one generation to the next. This is another form of acceptance without questioning.


For several hundred years an American tradition was, "The only good Indian is a dead Indian." A good old Australian tradition was "the Abo-hunt," where they tracked down and shot the Aboriginal people for amusement.


A good old European tradition was the pogrom, where, if your luck had turned sour, go kill some Jews. The Russians loved this tradition, but the French and Germans thought it was a pretty swell tradition, too.


And it's always been a tradition of the Serbs to hate the Croats, the Hutus to hate the Tutsis, whites to hate blacks, Christians to hate Jews, Jews to hate the Palestinians, Hindus to hate the Muslims, and Muslims to hate everybody.

Anytime you see that a person has had his or her name changed in the biblical texts, it is always referring to someone that had undergone an spiritual transformation or renewing of the mind. Saul to Paul, Jacob to Isreal, etc...



Never mistake ancient spiritual mythology for any literal account of things of the earth or the physical world we live in, because all of the bible is talking about an inner spiritual revolution of the soul and mind (the earth that is within). We are the earth in the biblical mythology. Earth is a symbol of the lower nature of the soul, lower mental qualities, which constitutes the arena and life of the indwelling divine ego.

The Earth signifies the the principle of the human body that houses all of the nations and prophets and kindreds, and tongues, that help to bringforth the soul from it's animal nature or prison, the soul (indwelling light) was planted in the physical body (earth) in order that it may be watred by the higher spirit and sprout to it's fullest glory in it's due season.


When is the end of the world?


The world comes to and end when each person overcomes their earthly, carnal lower mind, worldly nature, brought about by the constant act of meditation, when one has risen from his/her lowest state of consciousness (hell), to their highest state of consciousness (heaven), then the book of revelations has been completed within the person, the seven days of creation are now complete, and new heaven and a new earth, this is the renewed mind or New Jerusalem which came down from heaven (the highest God/good, Jesus, Universal, Cosmic consciousness)



It is the lepers of this world that has corrupted the the ancient literature of soul science, a leper is a symbol of the lower mind troubled with conflicting desires, emotions and confused ideas. In short it is the divided mind, it is the mind that cannot discern the things of the higher spiritual nature, it doesn't even know that such things exist, an example of a leper in the biblical context would be any number of TV evangelists like Pat Opossum head Robertson, or Jack Van (Nincompoop) Impe etal....


Shut down these Philistines and follow Jesus who said go into thy closet (self in meditation) and pray to thy father which is in secret. "If your eye be single (pineal gland) your body will fill with light (god).
