This signifies the faculty of spiritual discernment which is derived by intuition from the higher consciousness, which gives utternane to the truth of hidden things. It is an exercise of the intuition respecting the evolution of the higher qualities of the soul. Gaskell
Biblical prophecy deals strictly with one's own spiritual progress and nothing more.
What or who is a prophet?
A symbol of a dawning of higher consciousness, and an intuition within the mind which foresees coming out pourings of spiritual faculty and increased perception of universal cosmic truth. Gaskell
"And they glorified God, saying, a great prophet is arisen among us; and God hath visited his people" luke 7;16 A symbol of the higher consciousness manifestation within the lower nature of the soul/light, residing in the solar plexus.
This refers to the perfecting of the qualities and their recognition of the higher state of consciousness which the indwelling Christ brings to the mind, by the two witnesses (the mind and the emotions).
By prophet is understood truth of doctrine derived by the spiritual reading of ancient nests, and not the literal reading.
There are NO prophets in the Literal world, not biblically speaking anyway, prophets in the bible are always an aspect of the mind and the emotions, the two witnesses that interact with divine authority, and stand as witness to a persons spiritual progress. They prophesy to the indwelling divine ego of good things that are to come or are coming as regards to a persons spiritual evolution.

A symbol of states of mind which regard outer events and personalities of time past or to come, as sources of soul growth and salvation.
The false prophets are those minds which point others to particular persons and times, and localities as sources of salvation, and thereby deceive and mislead many. As soon as erroneous notions abound, and these signs of spiritual inertness creep into the soul and mind, the love of the higher, or unifying principle is lost. The inner search for truth and reality has been snuffed out by them.
In other words because of false outer teachings by religious authorities, you now have a false outlook on life in general and especially concerning your inner self, these false prophets, diminish the light within you, so we could say that the real false prophet is the lower mind, as it is attracted to the physical outer world instead of the world within.
This false prophet can trick the mind into thinking that a person has made spiritual progress, while in fact none has been made, it alone declares that it is the prophet of god, but in fact it is the prophet of the ego (devil).
All of the biblical prophets are symbols of the mind and emotions as they alone register what is the condition of the mind, and how far one has come on the spiritual path, there is NOT one prophet or prophecy in the entire bible that has anything to do with the physical outer world, all prophets and prophecies are symbols of inner states and conditions as it pertains to the spiritual growth of the soul and mental planes.
The entire Bible is an INNER book, relating to one's personal spiritual growth and nothing else, this is the greatest secret, that all pseudo bible scholars and artificial religious authorities have no clue or idea about. They have completely misled the whole of the human race because of their inert/bald teachings of things spiritual, they are of themselves the devil.
"look not lo here nor lo there, for the kingdom of god is within you" If the kingdom of god/good is within you, and IT IS, then where are all of the prophets and prophecies? Of course! they are also within you.
Quit listening to those Philistinian baltherskite borax paddler's that call themselves modern day prophets and scholars, they are nothing of the kind, they are misleaders of the ancient mythology, leading everyone astray.
Daniel and Joseph the prophets
A symbol of the self incarnate in the lower nature or animal qualities of the indwelling light, and gradually expressing outwardly the truth that is within.

Eunuch, is a symbol of those egos who control the desire nature, mentally, morally ans spiritually. The condition is consistent with the spiritualising of the affections and lower desires, especially the desire to a part of them (the group).
A name change signifies a difference as related to the conditions of the mind and soul. The head officials are the highest qualities of the lower nature, which therefore favor the indwelling self, the self denial indicates that the spirit cannot be nourished by the things of sense and desire to be a part of this world.
The interpreting of the dreams signifies the bringing of knowledge of the problems of life, which the lower mind and it's faculties (wise men) are unable to solve. Anytime you see that a person has had his or her name changed in the biblical texts, it is always referring to someone that had undergone an spiritual transformation or renewing of the mind. Saul to Paul, Jacob to Isreal, etc...
Never mistake ancient spiritual mythology for any literal account of things of the earth or the physical world we live in, because all of the bible is talking about an inner spiritual revolution of the soul and mind (the earth that is within). We are the earth in the biblical mythology. Earth is a symbol of the lower nature of the soul, lower mental qualities, which constitutes the arena and life of the indwelling divine ego.

The Earth signifies the the principle of the human body that houses all of the nations and prophets and kindreds, and tongues, that help to bringforth the soul from it's animal nature or prison, the soul (indwelling light) was planted in the physical body (earth) in order that it may be watered by the higher spirit and sprout to it's fullest glory in it's due season.
When is the end of the world?
The world comes to and end when each person overcomes their earthly, carnal lower mind, worldly nature, brought about by the constant act of meditation, when one has risen from his/her lowest state of consciousness (hell), to their highest state of consciousness (heaven), then the book of revelations has been completed within the person, the seven days of creation are now complete, and new heaven and a new earth, this is the renewed mind or New Jerusalem which came down from heaven (the highest God/good, Jesus, Universal, Cosmic consciousness)
It is the lepers of this world that has corrupted the the ancient literature of soul science, a leper is a symbol of the lower mind troubled with conflicting desires, emotions and confused ideas. In short it is the divided mind, it is the mind that cannot discern the things of the higher spiritual nature, it doesn't even know that such things exist, an example of a leper in the biblical context would be any number of TV evangelists like Pat Opossum head Robertson, or Jack Van (Nincompoop) Impe etal....
Demiurge, the framer of the world, signifies the matrix on the all panes of life, the higher self or world soul/photons, descending into matter (physical life forms), and becomes perfected as the Archetypal Man from whom matter drops away. he is then the potential pattern for the rest of humanity to become perfected.
We must never forget that the entire bible is a book written about the INNER transformation of the soul from it's lower gross animal quality to it's highest conscious state, the seventh chakra opened.
Religion and it's outer belief systems have clashed with the intelligence of which man is naturally endowed. Long since has the real meaning of the ancient scriptures and myths been lost to the annals of time, a bygone era, where a wonderful symbolic language once existed among the higher learned men of old, but now we must relight that ancient lamp once more and begin to realise the richness and beauty of the ancient Dark Sayings of OLD.
In two thousand years who has proclaimed that all of those crazy nonsensical stories in the bible were MYTHOLOGY? Who has proclaimed from the pulpit that the word of God in the bible is written in deep symbolism and never LITERAL?
Why has the Church kept this fact suppressed and hidden from the masses? One word, Money and control over your mind!
When one has discovered that religion has kept all the true spiritual truths in the bible locked up, so that you could not utilize the knowledge for your own personal spiritual growth, then how could you have anything but contempt and loathing for these intellectually bankrupt pseudo-intellectuals and biblical apologists, who sit in liars pulpits.

From a biblical perspective, it is the sin of the Pharisees (religion) who Jesus condemned as counterfeit shepherds of the people, that applies equally to the pseudo-intellectuals that the government forces the people to embrace today.
What Jesus portrayed as The key of Knowledge, represents the turning away from the Literal reading, in order to open the inner door to the higher reality of the soul and learn the Mysteries of Creation, by the spiritual reading of the texts, which then gives you meditation as the KEY to the Kingdom.

In other words religion has taken away the key, because they don't teach you to meditate.
They teach you that going into yourself in meditation will open your mind to the devil. They teach you that it is New Age and Eastern and you shouldn't do this.
And so they do not do it and they hinder you from doing it and Jesus says they take away the key of knowledge and so people do not know how to pray. They recite endless words and as we can see from the recent disaster no one gets their prayers answered at all.

These are the Bible literalists, those who blindly take the Bible as the exact word of God (of whom our president is one, as are many of his fundamentalist minions), and they only look at discoveries like this new gospel and stare numbly, uncomprehendingly, as fluid divinity swirls around them like some sort of frustrated mist.
The truth is, the Church was formed to serve people just like this, those who are unable to grasp nuances and unable to think beyond a certain scope, those who are unwilling or unable follow what is perhaps the single most powerful and significant of all Christ's (and Buddha's, and the Tao's, etc.) teachings: that is, to seek God within. Not in a priest. Not in a building. Not in an organized institution. Within you.
This truth has the capacity to free the thinking of people from the fossilized limitations of the pseudo-scientific and secularized counterfeit religious doctrines and authorities that shackle mankind in the abyss of ignorance , and it is this knowledge is set forth in restoration of the Original Gospels, that has the potential to enable seekers to prove the Truth within themselves.
Anytime any TV evangelists or preacher opens their mouths, they are serving mammon (the lower emotions). They are operating strictly from the left brained reptilian mind, they imbue and serve only their LOWER SELF.

Whosoever you have been hearing about Jesus is not the about Jesus, the real, it is about the Jesus the Christians have invented, decorated to be sold in the market. the christian Jesus will have to be transformed through him; he is the baptism of fire. you can be a christian conveniently, but you can never be a real Christian conveniently. If you are really following Jesus, there is bound to be trouble.
He himself ended up on the cross, you cannot end up on the throne. But if you follow Christianity there is trouble. it is a very convenient way to adjust Christ to yourself rather than adjust your self to Christ. If you adjust yourself to Christ, there will be a transformation, if you adjust Christ to yourself, there can be none. isn't this what religion has to with Christ, they have adjusted Christ to themselves?
Christ then becomes part of the decoration of your imprisonment, part of your furniture, your car, your house, a convenience at the most, but you are not related to him. That's why twenty years look like they have been wasted.
Sooner or later everything becomes organized, prayer, meditation, everything. then the glory is lost, then you go on doing it, you might be absolutely skilled, and it may give you consolation, but the mutation will be missing. You will not die in it, and you will not be in baptism, you will not be reborn.
In twenty years of Christian teaching, listening to the new testament stories, may have been futile. they are superb as far as stories go. The poetry of the new testament, the poetry of the whole bible, is something not of this world. There are great poets-shakespears, Milton, and Dante-but nobody can surpass the Bible. The poetry is tremendously simple, but it has some quality which ordinary poetry cannot have. it has awe, that is it's greatest quality.
The missionary, the priest, the bishop, they destroy, because they start interpreting. they put their minds in it and their minds are medicore. It is as if you are looking into a tremendously beautiful thing, from the mind of very stupid men. They have distorted the mirror of the sun and have turned into the moon.
The Bible is one of the greatest events in the world-very pure, purer even that the Bhagavd Gita because the Bhagavad Gita is very refined. The people who created it were very cultured and educated, and when ever a thing becomes refined it becomes ethereal, unearthly.
The Bible is rooted in the earth, the earth is man, the Bible is rooted in man. But the priest has uprooted the Bible and planted it not Eastward in the garden but Westward, out there in the physical world, instead of the world within, it is the world within that the Bible was made for.

So we ask again why our "teachers" have not told us the truth about Judaism and Christianity and about the true identities of the patriarchs and prophets they habitually lionize? The indoctrination process instigated by those responsible for birthing Christianity works well to ensure that the ideal Christian or Jew continues to exist in a perpetual state of spiritual fear and guilt. As a result of his divorce from center, such a man is impotent, subservient, faithful, and tame. He is suspicious of his own reason and prefers to accept rather than to proactively doubt and question. He believes he is empowered and upon the road to salvation.

Martin Luther, like so many liars and power-hungry despots of his type, belonged to a powerful occult order. The ordinary Bible reader, however, is never meant to guess that. He is merely to continue believing his Jesus to be utterly unique and that the tyrants responsible for establishing his religion were paragons.

The organic mind of man remains under the delusion of what can be portrayed as the Tower of Babel syndrome with respect to each person's incomplete perception. From the perspective of a matured and evolved higher state of mind, because man in his undeveloped organic condition totally lacks any degree of Wholeness, and continues to perceive through the limited vision of one of one of the fragments within the twelve spheres of mind in conjunction with the seven (7) factors (chakras) organic (natural) man's vision and understanding is so limited, that everything he thinks he knows, is always in profound error i.e., "There is a way that seems right to man, but its end is the way of death" (Prov 14:12).
While the Fundamentalist who assigns the label of Orthodox to his own interpretation of the scriptures, lacks any understanding of the esoteric meaning of the symbols that make up the written text the pseudo-intellectuals and Atheist critics are themselves blinded by the limitations of their own organic consciousness, and they lack any understanding of the esoteric meaning of the allegorical symbols that are impressed into the forms of nature.
While the modern believer would like us to accept at face value that they are fulfilling the mandates of Paul with his doctrine of faith and his rejection of the outward rituals of the carnal Jews, are we so gullible to believe that the Church assists the flock of believers to do as Paul commanded when he instructed that they must "Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature" (Col 3:5 NIV). To the degree that Paul warned: “For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live” (Rom 8:13 KJV).
Why? Because the consciousness of the organic flesh of the body-vessel is totally subject to the illusions of this world which must be overcome, in order to begin to perceive man's higher reality of soul and spirit and what Jesus portrayed as the Kingdom of God within one's own mind and being.
Therefore, Paul rightfully tells the believers to reject the outward rituals of the Jews who failed to comprehend the allegorical nature of the scriptures, and to overcome the inherent blindness of the disciples own organic carnal nature, in order to escape the inherent ignorance of this world. Paul's doctrine of faith was a spiritual faith based upon Gnosis and the faith of Paul was based upon the fact that if you use Jesus as the pattern of your life, and seek the Truth and the Kingdom, that the inner "narrow gate" will open unto you.
With respect to the perception of the physical senses and limited understanding of the organic mind of carnal man, Jesus said of those of his disciples who followed in TheWay: “Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables: That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand” (Mark 4:11-12 KJV).
What could these first century authorities as well as the scriptures itself possibly be making reference to with respect to spiritual concepts that organic man, as well as baptized and confirmed believers, are incapable of comprehending? In the same way that an embryo does not yet possess the maturity to prematurely sustain life outside the physical womb, neither does an entry-level Christian possess the mental and spiritual maturity to comprehend the higher reality beyond their very limited organic physical reasoning and understanding. And what Paul portrays as the "testimony" of "Jesus and him crucified" is representative of religious baby-speak that assists the believer to begin the process of growth and developmental to maturity.
In the ancient day if Plato's time may be called ancient the great body of esoteric teaching, conveying to initiated minds these cryptic connotations of basic terms and concepts, was confined to the narrow cycle of the few who could read and attend lectures in the schools of the Mystery Brotherhoods. There was no possibility, hence no thought, of attempting its popularization among the masses. It was necessarily esoteric, the possession of the few literati, Little wonder, therefore, that when the rabid promulgators of Christianity determined to spread their new gospel among the multitude, they ignored and later despised the secret knowledge of the esoteric occultists. This observation is in itself an item that religious scholarship has overlooked.
Christianity shortly took the road of appeal to the sympathies, the predilections, the emotions and the ignorance of the downtrodden masses, and thereby closed every door of connection between its popular advertisement of personal salvation and true intellectual understanding and knowledge.
Broken was the haunting dread of those bogies which a fearful theology had reified in the imagination of sensitive childhood; gone was the fear of a future ordeal of punishment for earthly misdeeds in a fiery hell of torment. For this life is the Hades, Sheol and Amenta, and whatever it held of pain and horror was being met now and found not by any means horrific. And there was the positive knowledge, mighty in its comfort and cheer, that if this is the "death" of the soul, it is one that looks ever toward the dawn of a wondrous day of awakening and a final resurrection to a life of ineffable glory.
A thousand phantoms of traditional orthodox religious "teaching" were instantaneously dissolved in the sunshine of the intelligence that the Scriptural tomb of death is nothing more fearsome than the physical bodies we wear on earth, and that our bursting the bars of that tomb is nothing more insuperable than the mastery of a truly spiritual science.
In Old Testament allegorism, "Egypt" could only be escaped by crossing the "Reed Sea." As elaborated elsewhere, the liquid nature of the human body composed of seven-eighths water. The soul must pass through its ordeals of living experience in the fluid of the body to make its final exodus from the "flesh pots of Egypt." At any rate corrected modern translations of the Scriptures have taken the Reed Sea out of the text!
In Moffatt's translation it has become, and correctly, the "Reed Sea." Literalists must stand dumbfounded at this disappearance of their geographical body of water from the story. Yet, oddly enough, that very phrase, when taken in another and its obviously true sense, brings it back to them as the (physical) body composed mainly as water. Literally enough they must know that they are making their evolutionary way from "Egypt" to "Canaan" through the body of water in the spinal canal.
In Greek mythology the god of the underworld was Pluto. He seized Proserpina, the divine soul, daughter of Ceres, cosmic intellect, and dragged her down from the light of day in the upper realms into his darksome kingdom and forced her to marry him. The myth becomes alight with meaning when it is known that the "underworld" is this earth. For the soul is impelled by divine necessity to descend here below and marry the kingly powers that rule it.
"We live in darkness like the dead." And Job declares: "I laid me down in death and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustaineth me." If the word "death" is taken here in its ordinary sense of bodily demise, it would say that Job had already once died and been brought back to life. As this is not supposable, then the word bears some other connotation than its common one, and it is that of a soul-death. This is a splendid sample of how in hundreds of passages the substitution of the philosophic sense for the exoteric literal one redeems the text from baffling nonsense to rational meaning.
In the forty-ninth Psalm it is said that "like sheep they are laid in the grave." Does this mean rows of cemetery graves? Not if one remembers that the figure of a lamb led to the slaughter and to his grave was applied to the Christ himself. In the Psalms (49 and 89) and in Hosea (13) the spirit of God says that he will redeem "my soul" and "their souls" from the power of the grave and of death. Can this bear logical reference to anything save the freeing of the divine spirit locked up in man's corporeal constitution from its bondage under such limitations?
Says Job: "I shall die in my nest, and I shall multiply my days like the eagle," or phoenix, the fabled bird of death and resurrection. How can death in its physical sense multiply one's days, obviously on earth? Death ends one's days, it does not multiply them. But in its sense of incarnation each additional "death" and burial in (living) body surely does multiply for the soul not only days, but years and ages of ever more thrilling life.
Let us place alongside of Job's rhapsodical utterance one from the Book of the Dead. There the soul, in a ritualistic pronouncement that, when philosophically apprehended in all the length and breadth of its cosmic significance, generates almost a transport of exalted feeling, says, as if in a veritable struggle to suppress bursting rapture: "I die, and I am born again, and I renew myself and I grow young each day."
And so it comes to that climactic utterance of the divine soul of man, perhaps the most exultant outburst of holy rapture expressed in the Scriptures. It is from Paul's immortal chapter on the Resurrection, the fifteenth of First Corinthians. As the essay concludes with its unforgettable rhapsody, the reader should take it deep into his own inner consciousness as being the glad cry that will go ringing out from his and our own lips as, finally triumphant over our last "enemies" of sense and body/ego coverings, we shall go winging our way verily on pinions of ecstasy back to the celestial home.
"So when this corruptible shall have put on in-corruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: Death is swallowed up of victory.
O grave, where is thy victory?
O death, where is thy sting?
The death of the lower self or ego.
All this ancient scriptural data accentuates the fact that not the historical Jesus, but the spiritual Christ, or the god within the individual heart (as expounded in the lecture on Platonic Philosophy in the Bible) is the subject of the sacred writings of old, and the kernel of the whole religious ideology. Angelus Silesius has expressed this in a stanza which should be a perpetual reminder of the futility of clinging to the historical interpretation of Gospel literature.
Though Christ a thousand times in Bethlehem be born, But not within thyself, thy soul will be forlorn; The cross on Golgotha thou lookest to in vain Unless within thyself it be set up again.
And the Christian hymn, "O Jesus, thou art standing, outside the fast-closed door," gives expression to the kindred idea that while we look across the map to localize the Christos in Judea, we keep the spiritual mentor of our own lives standing without, seeking an entrance into our lives in vain.

Most people today operate on the lower chakras the devil is sometimes pictured as half man half beast, (man represents your higher nature, the beast your lower nature) this is what the sphynx represents,and the Balphomet in masonry (its all symbolism)
The fall is when WE fell from the spiritual plane (stars) to the physical plane (bodies).
The original man and woman, so called black people are the snakes, serpents, dragons, reptilians which is really us being the Nagus people/us. Those who are able to activate FULLY and keep on the kundalini energy, the fire serpent.
The snake in the garden, the masonic code, was Lucifer and Satan, as long as the energy stays pent up in the lower regions your whole life, because it empowers the emotions. When the kundalini rises to the brain, it becomes the manifested diety within you.
When the spiritual light is fully revealed all seven energy centers (chakras) along the spine are enlightened and the body becomes full of light.
“I have looked and behold a candlestick all of gold, with a bowl upon the top of it, and his seven lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which are upon the top thereof:
And two olive trees (Ida/pingala-the two nerve currents one on each side of the spine) by it, one upon the right side of the bowl, and the other upon the left side thereof.”-ZECHERIAH 4:2-3.
IN THE BOOK OF REVELATIONS, IT IS THE OPENING OF THE SEVEN SEALS OR CHAKRAS ON YOUR BACKSIDE (spine/tree of life).

are The Lamps Within the body referred To As the 7 Chakras of the body or Knowledge Centers, or Lotuses.
To awaken these lamps within is the ancient science practiced by all the sages of all ages practicing on concentration on head and spine (also the Bow and arrow. Bow=head and spine and arrow=straight line symbol of infinity)
The 7 churches are the 7 points (chakras) of awakening

when 7 centers are awakened with angelic qualities they are called 7 stars
Forget not, O man, with all of thy seeking that Light is the goal ye shall seek to attain. Search ye ever for Light on thy pathway and ever for thee the goal shall endure. Let not thine heart turn ever to darkness. Light let thine Soul be, a sun on the way. Know ye that in the eternal brightness, ye shall ever find thy Soul hid in the Light, never fettered by bondage to darkness, ever it shines forth a Sun of the Light.
Aye, know, though hidden in darkness, your Soul, a spark of the true flame, exists. Be ye One with the greatest of all Lights. Find at the Source, the End of thy goal.
Light is life, for without the great Light nothing can ever exist. Know ye, that in all formed matter, the heart of Light always exists. Aye, even though bound in the darkness, inherent Light always exists.
Along with that came the astounding assurance that the Christ's resurrection could have nothing to do with the rising of a corpse and its bursting the bars of a rock tomb on a Judean hillside on any Easter morn. This was now seen to be allegorism depicting the soul's eventual bursting the gates of this hell of imprisonment in the flesh and winging its way in the glory of celestial light back to its empyrean home, the "sting of death" and the "victory of the grave" having been overcome at the last trump.
Hard on the heels of these overpowering realizations came a startling corroboration of the restored interpretation, one that has strangely survived Christian manhandling of the Scriptural texts, in the eleventh chapter of Revelation. If, as five or six Church Councils have decreed in utmost solemnity, every word of the Bible is God's infallible truth, then at least one verse of the Holy Book negates the whole story of the four Gospels, taken historically.
The apocalyptic writer (who, say many discerning scholars, could not have been the disciple John!) is speaking of the "two witnesses," previously called "the two olive trees," but taken by theology to be two hierarchical powers; and in the preceding verse he says that the "dragon" shall rise up and slay them. Then in verse eight he makes the statement that puts all historical Christianity on the stand for searching cross examination: "And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the city which is spiritually called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified."
Only the flash of light dimmed for eighteen centuries and re illumined as Massey's "Egypt" was being perused, provided a dialectical basis for the salvation of Christianity in its proper essence and message from the devastating implications of that remarkable eighth verse. What! The Lord Christ not crucified in Jerusa-lem, but in a city spiritually named Sodom and Egypt! And Egypt not even the name of a geographical earthly city, but of a land and nation! (And even that meaning disqualified by our present knowledge that the name "Egypt" in both Old and New Testaments is an allegorical designation for earth itself, the "underworld" into which souls descend for incarnate life!)
Also there is the damaging consideration that geographically and historically Sodom and Egypt were not one and the same place, a fact which makes it necessary to assign one crucifixion to two different places, and neither of them the place claimed for the event in the Gospel stories. If the statement in this eighth verse is in any sense true, then it refutes the whole of the Gospel accounts of a physical crucifixion of the man Jesus in Jerusalem. And with characteristic subterfuge the ecclesiastical system of Christianity has evaded the issue presented by the conflict between this verse and the Gospels.
From this precarious dilemma Christian theology can be saved only by the resources provided by the very philosophies which the Church, both early and late, has pronounced heretical. The now readily discernible clue is hidden in the word "spiritually," the adverb used to describe the manner of the naming of the city of the crucifixion. If this locality was "spiritually," (another translation says "mystically") called by several names, it could not have been a geographical town, but must have been a "spiritual" city! One of St. Augustine's two major books, which is indeed one of the foundation pillars of the Christian faith, is entitled The City of God; and this, it is to be noted, is no geographical municipality, but clearly a kingdom of spiritual consciousness.
So, then, there can be no dispute over the figurative meaning of verse eight, which clearly states that the principle of Christly spirituality is crucified in this lower world, or city of mortal consciousness, and thus only spiritually, not physically, crucified. It was the crucifixion of soul in a physical body, but not the crucifixion of a physical body.
And that difference represents the vast abyss between sane understanding of Biblical meaning and ghastly misunderstanding in centuries of Christian theology. The death and crucifixion was that of divine soul on the cross of the flesh, and in no sense that of fleshly body on a cross of wood. The latter, however, was used symbolically and dramatically to typify the former, and ignorance mistook it for the actuality in a historical sense. It was soul, not body, that met crucifixion and "death." The mortal body, named variously Sodom and Egypt, is itself the cross, on whose four arms the Christ-soul is crucified.
